D-day and lift off.

I woke with an excitement I haven’t felt for a long time. The day was finally upon us. You have to understand that I haven’t been out of Australia since 2018, and it’s something I’ve been craving since getting divorced. As Jess’s dad drove us to the airport I Noted the different feelings and emotions that was being felt in the car. I could feel the sadness and feelings of loss from the front of the car, Jess seemed to be pretty neutral and I was buzzing like an old fridge, just holding it together! I was reminded of times when I was a little kid when mum and dad wouldn’t be able to tell me that we were going on an adventure because I would be to excited and uncontrollable! We checked our luggage in no worries and said our final goodbyes to Jess’s parents. They are a close family and I know they will miss having her around dearly.

At this point I was practically skipping my way through check in! The first leg to New Zealand was uneventful. I wish I could say the same for our next flight to Santiago Chile. The flight crew were finishing up their safety brief and we had just started to get pushed away from the terminal when two rows in-front of us there was a commotion. I looked up and saw a lady standing up acting frantic so I removed my headphones as I watched her male friends head rolling around as he slumped to his side. The flight attendants came running and it was a scene. My first thoughts were that of fear. I have seen a documentary called “Died Suddenly” and it’s about the dramatic increase of people suffering from myocarditis since 2020, and in that documentary they show footage of news reporters, people in subways, athletes and young people just dropping like flies. The documentary is confronting and should be watched in my opinion as it links very serious side effects related to Covid vaccinations injuries/deaths. So it was very frightening for those minutes as they asked for anyone that is a doctor or can be off assistance to quickly attend. The people that the guy was travelling with were actually a collection of medical people who acted quickly to elevate his legs and he regained consciousness. He had some kind of fit or episode. They needed to go back to the gate so the airport medical emergency crew could come and attend to him. He was ok but they wouldn’t let him fly of course so him and his crew got off the plane. The captain told us that their luggage was going to be located and removed as well before we could depart. This was a problem for us because our connecting flight from Santiago to Lima, Peru was already tight. Nothing could be done about that now and we were grateful that he was ok firstly and also that it hadn’t happened once we were in the air. The flight was 11 hours and honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I began slowly testing out my limited Spanish with the lady sitting next to us and the flight crew. It’s funny feeling the nervous and apprehensiveness of engaging but it was fun and also shocking at how little I can recall in the moment! I was awake for a fair bit of the flight and got to see the amazing fairy floss pinks in the sky reflecting off the clouds as the rising sun chased us across the sky. The flight information told me that we would have 40 minutes before boarding so it was ok at that point. As we began our decent the landscape was amazing with the mountain ranges covered in snow on one side and the other was smaller mountains and coast line. When we landed the local time changed and according to the tiny screen we were already 20 minutes past our boarding time! I told Jess to lace her doc martins up tight cause we were gonna have to leg it! It was a good distance before we got to the security screening and my bag got pulled up so we had to empty it because they saw something they didn’t like the look of. Turned out it was just my key ring! We had to run run and when we got to our gate it said that our boarding was going to be in 30 minutes. Apparently it was delayed as well. Unfortunately the airlines had already changed our flights due to the delay and we had our first experience of the notorious language barrier. They had us waiting 9 hours in the airport and got us a flight at midnight to Bogota Colombia where we would need to get another change of flight to our final destination in Ecuador. Fuck! They informed us that they were trying to change us back to the original flight but it wasn’t looking good. All we could do was wait. I went to go buy some water and when I came back I saw Jess excitedly jumping and waving boarding passes with our passports!! We were in the clear!! I believe that through not stressing but instead trusting that even though the situation was out of our control things would be fine. Moments like these can be little tests. Tests to see if we will respond with old habits or use it as a opportunity to implement new traits. In my meditations one of the things I’ve been asking to be brought into my reality is to be adaptive and fluid throughout this journey. It’s amazing watching the changes in real time.

It’s a sad state of affairs in my opinion that I need to attach a disclaimer to my accounts and writing to cover my ass because of the new “Misinformation” laws which can see me fined and even jailed if my views don’t fit the narrative that’s being pushed. Our freedom of speech is being eroded and in turn so is our democracy. Misinformation is just an on point word. There is information from all sides and the fact that the powers don’t believe that we can listen to other viewpoints to formulate our view points like adults is beyond ridiculous.

What an eventful trip! Spot on the money with the disclaimer thing…f##kin disgrace, it reminds me of Sly Stallone in demolition man where swearing gets you fined! Good thing you were able to stay calm, I would have had knots in my stomach I reckon 🤣
